About Us

Hi there! We’re Richard and Coral, a semi-retired couple in our 60s who swapped bricks and mortar for life on the road — and we’ve never looked back. Alongside our two beloved Shitzus, Muzzy and Rocket, we’re full-time travellers exploring the wide, wonderful roads of Australia in our caravan.

Starting this new chapter meant a big shift — both in lifestyle and in letting go. Downsizing from a full house to a van was no small task. We sorted, sold, donated, and debated over every item: Do we really need this? Will it fit? Can we live without it? Some days it felt like a never-ending puzzle, but slowly and surely, we let go of the clutter and kept what truly mattered (yes, including a few creature comforts!).

Living small has its quirks — tighter quarters, limited storage, and learning to adjust to a simpler rhythm. But with each challenge came freedom: the freedom to wake up wherever we choose, to meet incredible people, and to share this life of adventure with our little four-legged co-pilots.

Gray Nomads Getaway is our way of sharing what we’ve learned — from practical travel tips and road trip stories, to our little shop of crafty treasures and digital eBooks on thriving on the road in your 60s. We hope to inspire others to take the leap, embrace the adventure, and prove that it’s never too late to chase the open road.
